Organic ‘Biomix’ beetroot

Organic Biomix Beet (Beta vulgaris Biomix) is a colorful organic beet blend that produces red, yellow, pink, white, and sometimes beautifully striped roots for harvests that are both decorative and delicious. Its dark green foliage adds structure to the vegetable garden, while the diverse roots create a spectacular display on the plate. Easy and quick to grow, it can be harvested in about 50 days after sowing. In the kitchen, Biomix Beets are excellent in salads, roasted, steamed, pickled, preserved, and the young greens can also be enjoyed fresh or sauted.

Sow Organic Biomix Beet directly in the garden from May through July in full sun to partial shade. It prefers loose, cool, well-drained soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH, enriched with well-rotted compost to encourage even root development. Cover seeds with 1 to 2 cm (0.4 to 0.8 in) of soil, keep moisture consistent until germination, then thin seedlings to about 15 cm (6 in) apart. Water regularly throughout the season to produce tender roots, reduce cracking, and prevent a fibrous texture, especially during hot weather.

In the garden, Organic Biomix Beet is perfect for vegetable gardens, edible borders, ornamental kitchen gardens, and deep containers at least 30 cm (12 in) deep. Its range of colors creates attractive harvests while maximizing diversity in a small space. It pairs well with Garlic, which is a beneficial companion, while Pole Beans and Mustard are best planted elsewhere. If roots are overwintered into their second year, the flowers attract several beneficial insects. Productive, versatile, and enjoyable to grow, Beta vulgaris Biomix enriches both the garden and the kitchen.
