Dwarf Maiden Grass

Plant Overview

Dwarf Maiden Grass is a compact ornamental grass that adds graceful movement and year-round interest to any landscape. Its fine-textured foliage forms neat, arching clumps that create an elegant fountain-like appearance. In late summer, copper-colored plumes emerge above the foliage, turning silvery-white as they mature and persisting through winter.

Plant Care

Dwarf Maiden Grass is remarkably low-maintenance once established. Cut back old foliage to 6 inches above ground in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges. During the first growing season, water regularly to establish a deep root system. Divide clumps every 3-4 years in spring to maintain vigor and prevent center die-out.

Planting Instructions

Plant in spring or early fall for best results. Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and at the same depth. Remove the plant from its container and gently loosen the roots. Place in the hole, ensuring the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface. Backfill with soil, water thoroughly, and apply a 2-inch layer of mulch around the base, keeping it away from the crown.
